Abstract
This study aims to increase of the 7th grades in secondary school the scientific process skills and motivation for learning science positively through problem based learning activities. The study was carried out with the semi-experimental design of the pre-test-post-test control group with the participation of 46 7th grades in a secondary school located in Istanbul. The data were obtained by applying "Scientific Process Skills Test (SPST) and “Students’ Motivation toward Science Learning Scale (SMTSLS)” as a pre-test and post-test to the experimental and control groups. The parametric tests were used to compare pre-test and post-test scores. After the application process, a significant increase was found both in the SPST and in the SMTSLS scores in the experimental group who were trained with problem based learning in the post-tests. However, no significant change was observed on the SPST and the SMTSLS scores between the control group and experimental group.
