Abstract

A description is given of ROP (relational operations accelerating processor), a component of the relational database processor RINDA. ROP accelerates relational operations, such as sorts and joins, with specialized hardware and pipeline processing. The architecture and the processing algorithm of ROP, as well as its performance evaluations, are described.<>
