Abstract
One of the main characteristics of Machine Type Communication (MTC) is small data transmissions. This feature exhibited in MTC applications have the potential to cause significant signaling overheads. In this paper, we firstly identify the typical characteristics of MTC. What's more, we evaluate how RRC inactivity timer values affect RRC connection frequency (and hence signalling load).
