Abstract
Wesmaelius subnebulosus (Stephens, 1836) is a widespread species with a holarctic type of habitat. It is registered in most European countries, in Asia Minor, North and South Africa, Madeira and the Azores, as well as in North America. It is also known from New Zealand, where it was apparently imported and successfully adapted to environmental conditions, primarily due to the ability to inhabit anthropogenic landscapes. The species is most numerous in the Mediterranean region and is much less common in Northern Europe and other continents.
