Abstract
This paper presents an approach to combine an occupancy simulator and SCADA software for the simulation and visualization of occupancy-based energy consumption in a campus building. We used Winlog SCADA and the occupancy model generated by an Occupancy Simulator to simulate the energy consumption in a campus building. A program code provided by Code Builder in Winlog SCADA was utilized to read the file generated by Occupancy Simulator and then implement the energy-related algorithm. The simulation results were graphically displayed on the SCADA HMI. The simulation results showed that the proposed simulator can simulate and visualize an occupancy-based energy consumption model in a realistic display that is similar to the real-application energy monitoring when using the SCADA system. Furthermore, the proposed approach offers an efficient tool in the development of SCADA-based energy monitoring systems.
