Abstract
Currently, Industrial Engineering can be understood as a set of rules, methods and principles, theoretical and practical aspects, which are applied to organizations and companies with the firm purpose of taking advantage of resources of machines and humans. Also, design and plan work environments to maximize the benefit. As a consequence, Industrial Engineering can not be distant from the changes in processes, transformations, and innovations, seen from Science and Technology, which are generated by globalization, which, raised in a general way, end up impacting the reality of the nations, of the regions and even the local one. In this sense, the present bibliographic review relates the main tendencies of Industrial Engineering, from an international, Latin American and national scope. In a first analysis, generic aspects of Industrial Engineering are shown. Subsequently, some international trends are outlined, raised by Unesco, ABET and ISCO, through an occupational report; and the report on the EUROPE 2020 project, by Randstad Professional. In that order, an analysis is made of the rankings and behaviors of the universities in the area of Science, Technology and the main Industrial Engineering associations at the international and national levels. Subsequently, in the area of Research, a search is made in one of the main databases (Scopus) on the behavior and trends in the publication of articles, book chapters, citations and other documents
