Abstract
The cogeneration performance of Photovoltaic/Thermal (PV/T) is closely related to the ambient temperature. In order to obtain the PV/T performance suitable for cold areas based on the micro heat pipe Photovoltaic /Thermal (MHP-PV/T) developed in the early stages, the performance of trapezoidal MHP-PV/T (Trapezoidal channel section MHP-PV/T, T-MHP-PV/T) and rectangular MHP-PV/T (Rectangular channel section MHP-PV/T, R-MHP-PV/T) with the same cross-section area are compared at 45°installation angle to obtain the effects of cross-section shape on the cogeneration performance of the MHP-PV/T system. The results show that the MHP-PV/T can start normally when the initial outdoor ambient temperature is 19°C; the electrical efficiency of the R-MHP-PV/T system is similar to that of the T-MHP-PV/T system, but the thermal efficiency, total energy power, and total energy efficiency of the R-MHP-PV/T system are significantly better than that of the T-MHP-PV/T system. The results of the study provide guidance value and significance for the application and promotion of MHP-PV/T in cold regions.
