Abstract

The introduction of renewable energy sources in the modern power systems is accompanied by large use of power electronic converters. The control algorithm as well as the controller both play an important role in the functioning of the converter interfaced energy sources and with the advent of faster and powerful processors the Model Predictive Control(MPC) is becoming widely used. Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control (FCS-MPC) is popular due to its adaptation of power electronic converter's nature into MPC. This paper gives the functioning of FCS-MPC as current controller for VSC interfaced DG with three different control frames namely $\pmb{d}-\pmb{q}$ frame, $\pmb{\alpha\beta}$ frame and natural abc frame.
