An Analysis of C-E Translation of Public Signs from the Perspective of Skopostheory

Abstract

Bilingual public signs not only represent a city’s image,but also are a representative of a country in the world.At present,the translation of public signs is with errors which wait for being corrected.The paper,taking translation of public signs in Yichang,Hubei Province for an instance,analyzes the incorrect translation from the perspective of Skopostheory.The paper aims to facilitate the standardization of public signs translation in Yichang,and to quicken the development in cultural environment and promote the internationalization process of the city.
