Abstract

This paper engaged with the 1) optimal STATCOM sizing to achieve required power factor as per the grid code requirement at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) under various loading and operating conditions and 2) STATCOM dynamic performance during large motor starting and under fault conditions by monitoring the bus voltage recovery, STATCOM reactive power supply, synchronous machine rotor angle using DIgSILENT software in the industrial applications. This paper demonstrates the DIgSILENT model and full analysis of the results will be highlighted.
