Abstract

A novel dual band monopole antenna suitable for Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) system is proposed for next generation mobile communication. A simple F-shaped monopole antenna resonates at 2 frequency bands. The proposed antenna covers frequency bands including Wireless radio and Wi-MAX applications with reflection coefficient below -10 dB centred at 1.25 GHz and 5.8 GHz. A parasitic element is introduced in between the two antennas to reduce the mutual coupling between them and thus, enhance the isolation. The proposed antenna is simple to design and with good performance in terms of reflection coefficient, gain and isolation, VSWR.
