Abstract
Abstract Two experiments on a total of 56 Ss (32 male undergraduates, 14 older males and 10 females) are reported. The 16-PF, IPAT and HGSHS were administered to all Ss in group sessions. Significant negative correlations were found for the undergraduate males and the total sample (N = 56) between Factor F (Surgency) and the HGSHS. Significant positive correlations were found for the older males and the older males and females combined between Factor M (Imaginativeness) and the HGSHS. A comparison with previous findings yielded the following conclusion: Generalizations with respect to the relationship between personality factors and hypnotizability for an inclusive population of male and female adults are not warranted at this time.
