Robotic prostatectomy: where are we now?

Abstract

Although early results from studies using robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy are encouraging, long-term data are needed to establish the role of this technique in the treatment of organ-confined prostate cancer. The authors discuss the emergence of the da Vinci system, comparing it with the existing techniques of open retropubic radical prostatectomy and laparoscopic radical prostatectomy.
