The fundamentals of weaving technology

Abstract

Abstract: The chapter starts with a brief introduction to woven fabrics categorized into different types and then explains all the primary, secondary and auxiliary loom mechanisms involved in the weaving process. I t then covers principles of different shedding mechanisms and the type of sheds that are formed by different mechanisms: different type of shuttle looms are reviewed. The chapter then critically describes the principles of shuttle-less looms (air-jet, water-jet, rapier and projectile) and finally discusses, in brief, the principle of multiphase weaving, its economic advantages and limitations, etc.
