Because of the drawbacks of asynchronous motors (high shock of starting current, relatively low power factor, rigid mechanical characteristic), these motors have been replaced, in case of low power, by permanent-magnet synchronous motors, which have good efficiency and good power factor. By this change, the exploitation cost is reduced, the active power losses decrease with 10.6% and the reactive power consumption is reduced with. Abstract
