Abstract
Results of computer simulation of the microwave upwelling emission polarization effect of a precipitating atmosphere are presented in this paper. Ground - based measurements of second and third Stokes parameters were used for model calculations. It is shown that the second Stokes parameter of brightness temperature of a precipitating atmosphere measured from space can reach from 3 to 5 K. It is necessary to improve essentially the spatial resolution of microwave radiometers to use the polarization effect for interpretation of satellite data.
