Data da submissão: 03 de 02 de 2021 Data da aprovação: 16 de 04 de 2021 predicted values ??in the spirometry maneuver of slow vital capacity (SVC) in school-age children. Method: cross sectional observational research, including healthy children between 6 and 12 years old, whose health was controlled by means of normal spirometry(Pneumatograph Jaeger Master Scope IOS®), according to the American Thoracic Society(2005) and health questionnaires(ISAAC and health history). The children were divided into GCVL: those that reached 80% in the SVC maneuver; and as GCON: those that did not reach this value. The maximum inspiratory (MIP) and expiratory(MEP) pressures were obtained using manovacuometry(MVD 300 Globalmed ®). After verifying the normality of the data, the Spearman test was applied to analyze the relationship between RMS and SVC parameters. MIP and MEP data were compared between groups, using the Mann-Whitney test. A significance level of 5%(p <0.05) was adopted. Results:83 children with an average age of 8.54±1.95 years old,44 of whom in the GCVL(25 girls) participated. This group had higher absolute values ??and as a percentage of the predicted (%) inspiratory capacity(IC), expiratory reserve volume(ERV) and RMS. There was a relationship between %IC and ERV with MEP. In GCON,(39 children / 20 girls) there was a relationship between absolute values ??of SVC, IC, ERV and MIP and these first two parameters and the %IC with MEP. Conclusions:there was a relationship between RMS and the ability to reach 80% of the predicted in SVC, and this percentage was reached by children with higher values ??of RMS.
