To control the fast switching of the transistors an integrated circuit is used. The LM5146 used in this project can turn off and on the transistors up to 1 billion times per second, can monitor the output current and shut itself down if the supplied voltage in below a certain point. In the following papers it's presented the designing of such DC-DC converter. Abstract

In order to gain usage of solar power the produced energy from solar panels has to go through a DC-DC converter. The DC-DC converter regulates and monitors the output voltage provided to the battery.
