Convergence of Electrical Engineering Disciplines: Lighting and Infocommunication

Abstract

Rapid technological changes both in lighting and information and communication technologies opened up new synergies between previously remote disciplines. Drastic decrease in the energy consumption of lighting equipment and increasing throughput capacity of data communication networks enable new, connected lighting applications to be developed. We summarize trends and opportunities in combining lighting systems with wired and wireless communication.
