FEATURES OF RADIOACTIVE CONTAMINATION OF SOIL IN THE FIELD OF UNDERGROUND NUCLEAR TEST SITE «SARY UZEN»

Abstract

The article presents the results of the survey of the soil cover of the estuarine territories of boreholes at the «Sary-Uzen» site. The site is located on the territory of the Semipalatinsk Test Site (STS) and an underground nuclear test was conducted in the boreholes. In the study area, a survey was conducted using pedestrian gamma-ray spectrometric surveys and assessment of levels of radioactive contamination of the soil. A total of 2 main groups were identified. The first group includes boreholes, on the mouth area of which there is radioactive contamination of the soil (19 boreholes). The second group includes wells in which there is no radioactive contamination of the surface soil layer (9 boreholes). According to the results of the survey, the specific activity values of 137Cs,241Am, 90Sr, 239+240Pu were determined.
