Abstract

A reconfigurable reflectarray single element and 2×2 sub-array with a single varactor embedded inter-patch are presented. A phase diagram of both configurations and the relation to a radiation pattern is analyzed. Simulated radiation patterns from three designs namely CCSR, CRP and CRG with single element phase characteristics as a reference are reported to demonstrate reconfigurability of elements for beam scanning at Ku-band. The quasi pattern and value of single and 2×2 sub-array will provide guideline and indicator on how to get promising beam scanning result for full reflectarray fabrication and measurement.
