Abstract

The performance of trellis-coded M-ary frequency shift keyed (FSK) modulation with noncoherent detection is presented, as applicable to a fast frequency-hopped spread spectrum communication system or a conventional FSK system. Nonorthogonal tone spacing is considering as a parameter to control bandwidth expansion of the coded signal prior to hopping and to allow an increased number of users. Error performance analysis and simulation of the system is presented for full- and partial-band noise jamming and for partial-band multitone jamming.
