On the contrary, Tristesse is a claim that refuses to be presented as such and thus can be viewed as opposing the intellectual tradition shaped by so many literary journals. Tristesse publishes essayistic voices that are “in sadness” (as we say in love) which mark out an avenue for thinking and existing differently.
