Abstract

The spinning reserve (SR) can be defined as the amount of unused power capacity in an online power generation unit which can compensate for power shortages or frequency deviation within a given period of time. Power shortage is a common issue in microgrid operation. Hence, determining optimal scheduling of SR for microgrid operation under contingency condition is one of the most important aspects of microgrid operation under contingency events.
