The Tenth Linz Conference

Abstract

A session on August Bebel and German Socialism was held at the meeting of the Southern Historical Association on November 8 in Dallas, Texas. Sarah C. Neitzel (Texas Tech University) spoke on "The Evolution of August Bebel's Social-Political Philosophy, 1864-1871" while William H. Maehl (Auburn University) discussed "August Bebel's Role in the Development of a German Socialist Foreign Policy, 1878-1896." Comment was provided by Konrad H. Jarausch (University of Missouri-Columbia) and Vernon L. Lidtke (Johns Hopkins University). The next issue of the Newsletter will report in detail on this session.
