Abstract
This article was presented the improved sliding mode observer (ISMO) to control the speed of Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The ISMO was built based on the back electromotive force (EMF) with the sigmoid function added. With this method, the estimated signal was improved. The Electronic Design Automation (EDA) simulator link for ModelSim executed the co-simulation using VHDL in ModelSim software. The results demonstrated that the new SMO function could effectively estimate the rotor angle and speed. The PMSM speed could achieve excellent static and dynamic performance.
