Abstract
Tracking non-stationary narrow-band signals is an important problem in many DSP problems such as speech processing. We compare the performance of two such methods: the frequency-transform based notch filter and the energy separation algorithm. We show that the FTBNF tracks almost as well as the Teager-Kaiser operator in high SNR conditions, and that its performance is significantly better in low SNR conditions.
