Abstract
The Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) is widely used in industries due to its great efficiency and rugged construction. The hall-effect based current sensors has high chances of failure. The failure of the current sensor affects the control performance of the drive system leading to false actions. The uninterruptible operation of the drive is necessary for most of the applications. Thus the fault detection and compensation method for current sensor of PMSM is developed to increase the reliability of the system. The proposed method can accommodate single or double signal-loss fault, gain variation fault, zero-offset fault. The introduced signal-based technique due to its simplicity is better than the existing model and observer based technique, which requires an accurate model of the system and includes complicated calculations. Hence the three existing fault modes is considered in this technique and the performance is validated for different fault conditions
