Abstract

The paper deals with estimating the effect of radiation oil electrical insulating materials. In atomic power plants such materials are exposed to different intensities of radiation depending upon their use in the type of electrical equipment. In a first approach different types of thermoplastics and thermosetting resin materials were exposed to gamma radiations. The effects observed and probable reasons are discussed. Subsequently full coils were exposed to radiation with a dosage equivalent to the minimum service life required in the electrical machines.
