Abstract

The analytical study of microgrids require the development of models using the software tools that better represent the characteristics of the components with the least amount of work. There are critical limitations to the applicability of these microgrid models and software tools, and these limitations need to be consider at the beginning of the every study. It is possible to detect the limitations of the microgrid models and software tools by implementing a systematic validation process. In this paper, three type of errors commonly introduced by the microgrid model and the selected software tools are described: the first error type relates to the software applicability limits, the second error type relates to software flaws and the third error type relates to model limitations.
