Abstract

General purpose technology (hereinafter referred to as “GPT”) is an important engine for the transformation and upgrading of China's traditional industries and the cultivation of strategic emerging industries. GPT breakthroughs can drive the technological upgrading of multiple industries and form the country's leading advantage in key technology fields. So, what factors will affect the GPT performance of firms? Taking strategic emerging industry enterprises as firms, this paper analyzes the impact of knowledge breadth and knowledge depth on GPT R&D and spillover.
