Abstract

An automatic system for controlling blood glucose level in critically ill patients has been constructed. Closed-loop control of blood glucose; level has been achieved using glucose measurements from the MiniMed(R) Continuous Glucose Monitoring System (CGMS). A sliding scale approach determined the required insulin dose.
