The Internet traffic is known to be bursty and self-similar and therefore in this paper an analytical modeling of the arrival traffic is developed based on a two-state Markov Modulated Poisson Process, MMPP(2). Abstract

Optimum utilisation of the transport links in the access networks as well as satisfaction of the end-user service quality (Quality of Experience - QoE) is important for mobile operators.
