By doing the work of carefully constructing an analytical narrative that points to multiple causal pathways rather than one dictated by current outcomes, Hartshorn has done indispensable work that nonetheless leaves open the possibility that all is not said and done regarding the political fates of Egypt and Tunisia – and the role that workers and their organizations might have in shaping those futures.
