Abstract
This paper investigates Channel Operating Margin (COM) and traditional statistical eye/BER analysis for 25 Gb/s NRZ serial link. First, the detail calculation of COM is derived from the pulse response in order to evaluate the channel-compliance. Then, by using advance design system (ADS), the high speed link including FFE and DFE is established. Finally, the comparison between these two ways of channel-compliance evaluation is given. Simulation results that both of them can evaluate the effects of attenuation caused by device package and influence resulted from crosstalk. COM-way can evaluate the effects quantitatively while BER-way can evaluate the effects qualitatively
