Medical imaging is very valuable in proper diagnosis of the disease. In these days, many people are suffering from brain tumor which is a dangerous and severe disease causing millions of deaths annually worldwide. This paper proposes the process of detection and extraction of brain tumor from MRI images using discrete wavelet transform technique along with its different statistical features. The kernel based advanced technique such as SVM (Support Vector Machine) is used for further classifications of volume of MRI data as tumor type Benign or Malignant.
