A Review on Impact of Internet of Things (IoT) on Individual Privacy in Smart Home Systems

Abstract

Internet of Things (IoTs) is an evolving communication pattern that predicts a near future, whereby objects of day to day life are fitted with microcontrollers, and transceivers for communication electronically. There are also suitable protocol stacks that enable these components to communicate with each other as well as with the clients, thus becoming an essential part of the Internet. However, looking at those components of IoTs, numerous issues and difficulties to do with security, user privacy, ethical issues are raised and needs to be considered and tackled in order to figure out possible solutions. This paper focuses on the trend and technologies in IoTs, privacy as well as ethical issues in implementing the IoTs. Finally, some recommendations on those issues, especially to the end users and future research directions in the domain are outlined.
