In order to optimize the efficiency the loss minimization algorithm is developed based on motor model and operating conditions. The d-axis armature current is utilized to minimize the losses of the IPMSM in a closed loop vector control environment. The complete simulation model for the closed loop vector control of IPMSM drive incorporating the proposed loss minimization algorithm is developed using Matlab/Simulink software. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is tested in simulation at different dynamic operating conditions.
