Abstract

Based on Homer's Odyssey, as a humorous homage to film director Preston Sturges' ''Sullivan's Travels,'' this cock-eyed American ode brings together arguably the most talented sibling American moviemakers, the Coen Brothers, with the latest in photo-real visual effects. The Coens have created a picaresque ''convicts on the run'' character-driven comedy through the mid-1930's Mississippi Delta. The submitted clip from the film, entirely driven by visual effects, features a blend of live-action plates with CG water, as well as a computer generated dog, cow, flooded valley, floating barns and trees, musical instruments, and multiple cans of Dapper Dan pomade.
