QOGSA employs opposition-based population initialization and generation jumping to accelerate convergence speed of conventional GSA. ELD is a significant optimization problem in power system to distribute load demand reasonably and scientifically so that fuel cost can be minimized while satisfying various operational constraints. The proposed algorithm is tested in two standard systems of 10-unit and 40-unit.
