Abstract

One of the attempts to ensure a baby's healthy growth and development is exclusive breastfeeding. Breast milk contains essential nutrients for a baby's growth and development as well as antibodies that strengthen the infant's defenses. The percentage of exclusive breastfeeding in the city of Ternate is above 60%, according to data from 11 Community Health Centers (Puskesmas) collected by the Ternate City Health Office in the last three years (2017–2019). Several things can lead to exclusive breastfeeding. In Ternate City, this study aims to ascertain the connection between maternal variables and exclusive breastfeeding. In order to ascertain the association between various factors and exclusive breastfeeding, this type of cross-sectional research employs univariate and bivariate analysis. Through the use of cluster random sampling, the sample was chosen. A questionnaire with structured questions serves as the data collection method. 294 moms of toddlers in the Puskesmas neighborhood of Ternate City participated in this study. According to the study's findings, there is no connection between age and exclusive breastfeeding. Education and exclusive breastfeeding had no discernible association. A conclusion that there is a substantial correlation between work and exclusive breastfeeding might be drawn based on the p value. Exclusive breastfeeding and parity had no discernible association. The method of birth and exclusive breastfeeding were significantly correlated. Exclusive breastfeeding and knowledge did not significantly correlate
