Abstract

People with motor and/or cognitive impairments usually face several challenges when interacting with a computer. Often they have to rely on special and in most cases expensive hardware devices or can only use a limited range of functions provided by the device. The IAAA project aims at analyzing and modeling users' interaction capabilities in a fine-grained way in order to automatically determine the optimum interaction modalities and devices for the individual user. Later, this information will be used to adapt both user interfaces and interaction modalities to users' needs. IAAA utilizes standard hardware like common smartphones to lower the barriers for people with disabilities and subsequently extends its scope to non-impaired users. This paper focuses mainly on selected user model features that are used to represent a user's individual interaction capabilities. Further, it presents the results of a related initial study.
