Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the influence of the use of omega 3 in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases . considered the main cause of death. It is estimated that by around 2030, nearly 23.6 million people will die from cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular diseases include all pathological changes that alter the functioning of the circulatory system formed by the heart, blood vessels and lymphatic vessels. Studies show that cardiovascular diseases are related to risk factors such as: diabetes, hypertension, smoking, obesity, dyslipidemia, sedentary lifestyle and genetic factors. Studies show that omega 3 has several cardioprotective effects, highlighting the antiarrhythmic, antiatherosclerotic, antithrombotic, anti-inflammatory, blood pressure reduction and triglyceride concentration, and improves the endothelial function of the arteries. The cardiovascular protection of omega 3 is mainly due to its lowering effect on plasma triglycerides through (VLDL), lowering total cholesterol and low density cholesterol (LDL). FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: we can conclude in this work that omega 3 supplementation has strong facts that can be an ally in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, these clues are only valid along with good healthy living habits.
