Hospital IT Challenges: is SOA the Cure?

Abstract

Estimates of maintenance costs as a percentage of overall costs vary between approximately 50 and 90% [3]. The complexity of maintenance work is greatly influenced by the size, heterogeneity, transparency, and structure of the IT landscape and its components. SOA is considered by some to be the answer to these challenges, and its adoption is the next logical step for many IT organisations that have evolved through stages of silo architectures.
