In the research, quasi-experimental design with pretest posttest control group was applied. The experimental and control groups of the research consist of 7th grade students studying in a state secondary school in a province in the south of Turkey. While the experimental group consisted of 20 students, the control group consisted of 18 students. The subject of ratio and proportion was taught in the experimental group with the help of the 4MAT teaching model. In the control group, a teacher-centered teaching was carried out in accordance with the curriculum without using any special teaching method. In this study, an achievement test of 20 multiple choice questions was created by the researcher to collect data. The test was administered to the groups as a pre-test before the training, post-test after the training, and a retention test approximately one month after the post-test. The analyzes of the quantitative data obtained in the research were found with the t-test. According to the quantitative data, the average achievement of the experimental group was found to be academically more successful than the control group, and the information was more permanent.
