Abstract

A hybrid approach incorporates traveling-wave amplifier stages into the MachZehnder modulator (MZM) to reduce the area and power and improve bandwidth in a 90-nm silicon photonic (SiPh) CMOS process. Optical measurements demonstrate data rates up to 30 Gb/s.
