Abstract
The authors describe cascade self-tuning DC motor current and speed controllers. They assume a DC motor to be a plant with unknown but constant parameters. On the basis of the estimated plant parameters, they design a controller and then realize the control loop. Plant parameters are estimated on the basis of manipulation of mean values of armature voltage, armature current, and angular speed. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method when combined with controller synthesis by pole assignment. Linearization of the thyristor static characteristic led to an improvement in control.<>
