Abstract

This paper proposes a consequent pole type pancake-axial-gap variable magnetic flux PM-motor. The unique point of the proposed motor is that variable magnetic flux can be realized by the armature magnetomotive force, rotation speed and/or current phase. The back yokeless stator is adopted to constitute a series magnetic circuit, and the variable magnetic flux is realized by passively changing the magnetization amount of the image pole (iron pole) of the consequent pole structure.
