Abstract
Ad-hoc wireless multi-hop network is communication network that consist of wireless nodes, placed together in an ad hoc manner, with minimal prior planning. All nodes have routing capability and forward data packets for other nodes in multi-hop fashion. Since many applications have QoS (quality of service) requirements such as delay and throughput, it is imperative that the wireless part of the communication should be able to support QoS similar to wired network. Numerous solutions to the QoS problems have been proposed in this context. However, these protocols did not consider a major aspect of wireless environments, i.e., mutual interference. Interference between nodes within the proximity of each other cause route coupling. This can be avoided by using zone-disjoint routes. In this paper we have evaluated the performance of priority based routing scheme, which will protect the high-priority flows from the contention caused by the low-priority flows. This priority based routing protocol avoids the coupling between routes used by high-priority and low priority traffic by reserving a high-priority zone of communication. We have use the low-priority call blocking to improve the throughput of high priority flows in a network.
