Abstract

Gas Insulated Substations (GIS) are important equipment to power industry, mainly because of its compactness and robustness. This kind of substation uses SF6 (sulfur hexafluoride) gas as dielectric due to its feature, but on the other hand, SF6 is the most powerful greenhouse gas. Based on the importance of this gas to the power systems and its environmental damages, this research proposes a monitoring system to check gas quality and gas leakages in a GIS.
